Our Visit From The Firemen Today

Mr. Huxford and Mr. Kendrick came to school today to talk about being firewise.

First of all we talked about candles and who should light them. Then we talked about matches and lighters and what we should do if we find them. We need to tell Mum and Dad off if they leave matches and lighters around.

We talked about smoke alarms and how we can't smell smoke if we are asleep. Mr. Kendrick read us a book about a fire and what we need to do if there is a fire.  We need to dial 111 and ask for fire and then give our address. Not many people know their address so we can all try to learn them over the holidays.

We talked about what we need to do if there is a fire -GET DOWN, GET LOW, GET OUT!  We even had a pretend fire and practised getting out to our school safe meeting place.

Francesco thanked the men for coming to talk to us.
Afterwards we went back to class and did some shared writing about being firewise.
