On Thursday we went to the Town Hall to see Ruahine School's Production.

Maths Road Show

Today we were lucky enough to go to the World Maths Road Show in the hall. Room 12 children came and did the recording for us.  There were 17 activities for us to do. The activities were practising so many skills - such as ordinal numbers, recognising shapes, comparing distances, spatial visualisation, following a set of clues and of course working in a group.

Reading This Week

The Hungry Caterpillar reading group did their clay word with Mrs. Berge.  Here are some of them.

One of our activities this week is using letter boards to make our word cards. Here are Ciara and tyson with their words.

 

Our blend this week is pr. One of our activities is to dress up as prince and princesses and another is to build a castle for a prince and princess. Don't we look awesome!

Zumba

This Week's Nursery Rhyme

This week's nursery rhyme is Little Jack Horner.  Listen to these children saying their rhymes.

Winter Warmers

This week some more people got to Wellington and got their yoyos.  Blake got to Glasgow and got a little laser light torch- I'm sure there will be some more people wanting to get to the Games! Next week is the last week for the programme.  Here are this week's winners.

In The Library With Room 16

This morning we went to the Library with Room 16.  Our buddies helped us to do this week's Library Scavenger Hunt, then they read us a book and helped us choose a book to take home.                                                                                                            

 

 Lily read us a story about numbers and then Mr. Snell came in to show us the new rugby jerseys.  They look fantastic and the children who play rugby will soon get to wear them.

 

Maths This Week

For Maths this week we have been learning about position.  We read the book Hairy Maclary Scattercat and drew pictures that showed under, over, through, in up, down, in front of and behind.

Today we learnt about 1/4, 1/2 and whole turns. Then we played a game of Twister where you have to spin and put your left or right hand or foot on the Twister mat.  It can be lots of fun. 

On Friday we went into the computer suite and went onto Sunshine Online Maths and read On the Skateboard and did the activities and played the game.

 We had lots of fun.

Welcome Back To Term 3

In the holidays Derayiz went to the Tararua Library and did three pages in his Winter Warmers booklet - well done Derayiz!

Dimitri and his Mum made this fantastic bus.  I took a video but I can't get the sound to work so you will just have to use your imagination. 

Deakan is doing a really good job with leading us on our alphabet and blend charts. 

This week our blend is pl so we could choose to make a plane during our literacy time. Some people used mobilo and some construction materials.

At Assembly today Mrs. Buchanan did the draw for the Scavenger Hunts. Connor's name was drawn out and he got to chose a book. This is what he chose. Lucky Connor!

Tonight's SOS Disco

Tonight the SOS put on a disco to raise money for the school. Here are some of the Room 2 children at the disco.

Sewing

For art this week we have been sewing. We made frogs.  Thank you to Princess Phillipa, Mrs. Mumby and Mrs. Hales for helping us.

Winter Warmers Programme

Team 1 and 2 are doing the Winter Warmers Programme with the Tararua Library.  Nikki comes in and checks our books each Friday.  Today we had quite a lot of people who had got to Wellington (5 check-ins).  These people got a prize.  Here are some of these winners.  Some people were away today.

Patterns

In Maths we have been learning about patterns. On Friday we went to the computer suite and used the Paint program to make patterns.  At Discovery Day we also got a chance to do repeating patterns using sponges and potato prints. We also used interlocking cubes, pegboards and teddies to make patterns.

On Tuesday we found patterns in our classroom and
went for a walk to see patterns around the school.
Today we did body patterns and worked in groups.  Can you work out this pattern? A clue -look at their bottom half.
