Grandparent's Concert

Team One and Two put on a Grandparent's Concert.  Team One Grandparents came today and Team 2 Grandparents will come tomorrow.Here are a few of the items. We will post some more after the next concert.

Our Second Science Discovery Day

Today we had our second discovery day.  

Discovery Time in Room 4
First we went to Room 4. Mrs Irwin gave us a toy car, a marble and a track. We rolled things off a ramp and had to see which went the furtherest and then we had to make a high ramp. Did it make the marble and car go faster? What happened?

Discovery Time in Room 1

In Room 1 we were doing kitchen science experiments. We were mixing baking soda and vinegar and making gas. We found that the gas blew up a balloon that was attached to a beaker and it also  made our ice blocks explode.

Then we put some tempera paint in a plastic bag, poured some vinegar into the bag and sealed it. Then we watched as the bag expanded and grew tighter and tighter. It was so exciting.

We also put some mentos into a coke bottle and watched to see what happened.

Science Discovery Day

Team One are having two Science discovery Days.  This week we had our first one.
First of all we were in Room 2, our own classroom.  We looked at all the equipment for the first experiment and we tried to think up a question.

 

Then we did our first experiment - Exploding Colours. We used milk, food colouring and a drop of dish-washing liquid. It was amazing to watch.

For the second experiment we put a big dot of felt pen in the middle of the coffee filter paper. Then we put a drop of water on it and watched what happened.

For the last experiment we put some dots on the bottom of the paper.  Then we put the paper in the water and watched what happened.

 After Room 2 we went into Room 3. We made a wordle about a scientist.

We looked at the Bottle  Boys and how they made music.  Then we asked some questions which are on our classroom wall. After we discovered how they made their music we made our own instruments that we can blow.

Next Friday we will go to Room and then Room 1 for more Science fun!

Maths Discovery Day

On Friday we had a Maths Discovery Day on the Geometry Strand. The focus was on symmetry and position.
