Today we had an ANZAC service at school to remember those who gave their lives for our country. We had three distinguished guests and two board members and a lot of parents and whanau attend. First of all we had the official welcome by Tawera and Georgia, our head boy and girl. Then Mrs. Teller said a karakia and the Major Dalgleish gave us his address. Major Dalgleish spoke to us about t what ANZAC is. Then a group of senior students sang a song called Beautiful Soldier. It was very moving. Next the wreaths were laid. Jade and Jesse lay our class wreath which we were very proud of. The whole school, sang The Last Anzac and Mrs. Teller and Tama read the Ode. Mr. Irwin played The Last Post while the flag was lowered. We had a minutes silence and then the Reveille with Mr. Irwin playing again and the flag being raised. Then everyone sang The National Anthem and Mrs. Gyde closed the Ceremony.
