Maths This Week

We have been focusing in identifying numbers this week. Here are some of our maths activities this week:

Mya's Story About The Three Liitle Pigs

The little pigs went to the house.  Then the wolf came.  then the wolf said to the pig, "Let me in little pigs. I am hungry."Then the wolf felt happy.

Our Visit To The Town Library

Today we walked down to the Town Library for the first time this year.  The children who brought their cards to school were allowed to get some books out.

Our Buddy Class

Room 11 is our buddy class this year.  They invited us to go over today as they had some wonderful writing to share with us.  We all took a book to read to the Room 11 children.

New Sand Comes To School

Today a tip truck came to school.  It brought new sand for the sand pit for us. Team One all went out to watch. When the sand was all in a pile, Mr. Koeck told us we could jump on the big pile of sand.  Look at the photos below.

Maths Discovery Day

Today we had a Team One Maths Discovery day about Shape. Here are some pictures to show you what we did.

Reuben's Mow The Fro

Last week Reuben Davis shaved his hair off to raise money for the Child Cancer Foundation. We were asked to bring a gold coin to support him. Reuben raised over $250. Well done Reuben!

This Friday the councillors are having a mufti day to support the Relay For Life. We have been asked to wear bright colours and bring a gold coin.

On Friday the 14th of February Reuben had his hair shaved off . The money he raised went to Child Cancer.

 

The School Councillors also organised a Mufti Day.  We had to wear bright colours and bring a gold coin donation.

2D and 3D Shapes

We have been studying 2D and 3D shape in Maths.We learnt to sort shapes in different ways:
by colour,

 by their 2D 

and 3D shape

We also did a group activity to see which group could find the most hexagons- there were 28 altogether!

Celebating

We are celebrating the first two people to fill their sticker charts.  Sasha chose a little pad and Weramu chose a little toy from the bag.  Well done Sasha and Weramu!

Little Red Riding Hood

Our fairy tale at the moment is Little Red Riding Hood.  We listened to the story and we watched it on You Tube.  We put the story in order.

We did some play dough activities such as decorating the cake and making a wolf face.  Here are some of these.

Today was Room 2's day for the ipads.  We wrote our rainbow words on them:

Literacy in Room 2 This Week

For Phonics this week we have been looking at the letter W  and the sound it makes.  We made things with wheels using the lego, mobilo and playdough.

On Thursday Mrs. Bone brought some watermelon to school for us all to try.

We have also been learning to play some alphabet/reading games this week.

Maths This Week

For the first two weeks of school we are learning about 2D and 3D shapes.  We are learning to sort shapes by their appearance. Yesterday we went for a walk around the school looking for different 2D shapes.Here are some of the photos we took:

      

Today we looked at a You Tube clip about shape.  Then we looked at how we could sort the mosaics and attribute blocks. We also played a game of  What shape am I?
