Our Reading Activity

One of the Gruffalo Group's books this week was Ladybird Puppet. Mrs. Bone got all the equipment ready and we could go and make a puppet after we read the story. Here are some of our puppets.

Skip Counting in 2s

We are learning to skip count in 2s. Jade was fantastic at skip counting forwards in 2s.  Here is a photo of her hard work on her whiteboard.  she skip counted in 2s to 40.

Dannevirke South School Gala

On Saturday it was our school Gala Day. There was lots to do and lots of food, cakes and lollies to buy. Mrs. Bone was in Room 16 with the cup cakes.  Some Room 2 children came in and decorated the cupcakes.  Here are Deakan and Jade with the cupcakes that they decorated.

Swimming Starts

Today we went to swimming at Wai Splash.  This is the first of our swimming lessons.  We are in 3 groups.

Art Discovery Day

Today we had an Art Discovery Day. We did lots of creative art things in each classroom. Here are some of them.

The Summer Reading Programme

Today we walked to the Tararua Library.  Nikki talked to us about The Summer Reading Programme that we can all do. The theme for this year is Summer Camping. '

The programme is free and there are great entertainers coming that everyone can go to. Some of these are Captain Festus McBoyle, the pirate; Tanya Batt the storyteller and Zappo the magician. There are also two craft sessions for us to attend.
After Nikki told us about the Summer Reading Programme she read us a story like she usually does when we go.

The Junior School Cross Country

On Friday the 31st of October we had the Junior School Cross Country on the top field.
First we had to walk up to the top field and sit down. Mrs. bone took up the big piece of plastic for us to sit on.

                       

The first race was the five year old girls.  Jade was in this race.

Then it was the five year old boys.  Kyan, James and Varntay were in this race. 

                           

     

Next was the six year old girls and then the six year old boys. Ciara and Lara-Lee were in this race.

 We had lots of our boys in the six year old boys race.

It was very cold and wingy and we even got a little bit of rain in the afternoon!

Discovery Day

On Friday morning we had a discovery day.  Room 1 & 2 had a Guy Fawkes theme.  In Room 2 we made decorated biscuits, did a fireworks in a glass experiment, bonfire paintings, made sky rockets and did glitter and chalk picturs. Room 14, 3 and 4 had a Halloween theme.  There were frankinstein masks, skeletons, bats, pumpkins and spiders and lots more!

Dimitri's 6th Birthday

On Thursday it was Dimitri's Birthday.  He shared his cake with us.  The cake was a huge soccer cake with blue icing. We had cake, Room 3 had some cake and there was still more cake!
