Pet Day 2014
On Thursday the 23rd of October, we had our annual School Pet Day. Mrs. Bridge was the main organiser of the event and everyone had a great time.
From 9.00 to 11.00 a.m. there were lambs and calves on the middle field. We had a look at the lambs and calves on the way back from our cross country practice. We got to talk to some of the owners and pat some of the lambs and calves.
From play until lunchtime we were in whanau or mixed groups doing 3 different activities. There were sand saucers in Room 1 & 2, weaving in Room 7 and rock art in the other classes. Mrs. Bone and Mrs. Mumby helped people make sand saucers in Room 2 and everyone took their time and did a fantastic job.
In the afternoon the other animals were judged. There were dogs on the middle field, cats in Room 16 and caged animals in Room 17. In the hall there were the teddy bears, the rock art, weaving and sand saucers that had been made in the morning and these had also been judged. Look below to see a photo collage of all the photos.

Fractions
This term we have been talking about fractions. We have been learning to match 2 halves, to cut a shape in half, to draw the other half of a shape and to recognise the symbol 1/2. Today when we had the i-pads, Mrs. Bone gave us a problem and we had to draw what it might look like. She said that in a family half the family were females/girls and the other half males/ boys. We had to draw what this might look like. Here are some of our drawings. There could be lots of different answers. Some people had 2 in their family, others had 4, 6, and 8.
Modelling
For Art this term our topic is modelling. Last Friday we experimented with the clay and then Mrs. Bone showed us how to make a pinch pot.
Natalie Brings Her Rabbit To School
Today Natalie brought her rabbit to school to show us. Piper and Natalie came to Room 2 to tell us about what she has to do to look after Ruby and we asked her some questions.
We made a great list of adjectives to describe how Ruby looks and feels.
