To celebrate the last day of term the school had a fish and chip lunch which was organised by the SOS. Most of the class took up the opportunity to buy fish and chips. They were really yummy!

Maths Today
Today in Maths we read the big book The Jumping Contest:A Story About Length. Then some people went outside and had a jumping competition to see who could jump the furtherest.
The other people were given a coloured piece of A4 paper and they had to try and make the longest paper chain. We had some very long chains and Toby was the winner because he made the longest chain - well done Toby!

Eating Our Gingerbread Men
Mrs. Bone decided that we could try out a statistics activity that she had been told about on a Maths course earlier this year. We had to record which body part of the gingerbread men each child ate first.
Then we made a graph to show which was the most common body part to be eaten first.
The head was the most popular body part to get eaten. Next were the arms and the least popular were the legs.

Cooking Gingerbread Man
To conclude our Gingerbread Man Unit we made Gingerbread Men. Mrs. Davis and Mrs. Berge helped us. First of all we had to read the recipe. We had to measure out the right amount of each ingredient.

This Week's Literacy
Our nursery rhyme this week is London Bridge. One of the activities is to build a bridge. This is the bridge that Oliver and Toby built.
Today we did our rainbow words. Then we had to do our word practice and choose between clay, magnetic letters and the letter boards. Here are Kingston's words on the letterboard.

Maths Today
First of all we read The Class Trip from Sunshine Online on the Interactive Whiteboard and looked at the three activities. We were learning about adding numbers that equal 10. Then we moved around the activities in the classroom. Some people did the activities on the computers, some did coathanger and dinosaur addition and some did number practice.

Today Nikki, from the Tararua Library, came to see us. She brought the books for the children who had done five check-ins for Winter Warmers. We got some beautiful books to keep and they were all free!
