Team One's Assembly

Today Team One had our assembly item. We started with a karakia and then sang the National Anthem with everyone else.  Ryder introduced our item and then some Room 4 people showed their koauau.  Nate also held up a large photo of some children from the other classes with their koauau.  Then Dimitri and Majah got up and showed us their skills with another old Maori instrument. After that some of Team One showed their skill with rakau while singing Tutira Mai Nga Iwi.

Then the rest of the team showed how skilled we are with poi when we sang
 E Rere Taku Poi.

Jade At Netball

After going to soccer and rugby, Mrs. Bone went to netball on Saturday to see Jade play. Well done Jade!

Friday Story Time in the Library

At lunchtime on Friday there was another visitor in the library.  This time the storyteller was a fairy.  Do you recognise her? There were also some fairies in the audience.

The Pencils On Middle Field

Today Talia was away so Brayden, a house captain, came to Room 2 with Thomas, our councillor. They took us down to  the middle field to see the new pencils that Mr. Kirk has made.  They look great.  The councillors are going to make up a book with some games we could play with the pencils.

Winter Warmers

On Friday Nikki Price from the Tararua District Library came to talk to us about the Winter Warmers Programme.  We are doing it as a Junior school and the books will stay at school in the holidays. If you have a library card you will still be allowed
to get books out.  You can do the activity on a piece of paper and stick it into your book after the holidays.
The children should have all brought the timetable for the programme and a colouring in competition home. The library has some craft days and some great entertainers so put these on the calendar.  Even better they are all free!

Winter Discovery Day

On Friday the 13th of June we had another Discovery Day. This time we had it in the hall. The theme was Winter.  There were lots of things to do from baking to making a snowboarder! Mrs. Bone's activities included two experiments - one seeing which surface melted the ice the quickest and another one had two big blocks of ice -one with salt and the other without. WE put on gloves and used a thermometer to measure the temperature inside the gloves.  We were so lucky to have Room 16 children helping us. We also made polar bears using handprints, pictures with umbrellas and snowmen out of sparkling salt dough.

Feelings

We are trying to use feelings in our stories.  We took photos of people showing different feelings.  Can you guess what feelings these are?

Then we went to the computer suite and made wordles using  feeling words.

Maths

In Maths we have been learning to solve simple addition equations.

Saturday Sport

Lots of children in Room 2 play a winter sport.  Mrs. Bone went to watch some of the games on the 7th of June.  She will try and get to see the rest sometime soon. She went to soccer first and saw Dimitri and Kissane.

Then she went to see the children who play rugby.

Mrs. Bone managed to see 2 games of rugby but met Varntay coming to play on my way out. Jade was also there after her netball. So I'll try to get to see the others.
