In The Library Today

Today we went to the library as part of our Library Skills programme.  We read our Shared Book  The Jigarees and we found another book by the same author.  Joy Cowley is the author of these books.

We talked about what an author is and Mrs. Bone asked us if we had a favourite book.  Some children told us what their the favourite book was and we tried to find out the author.

 Blake's book was On The Farm-Milking Time and the authors were Jamie and Lee Lamb.  There was a photo of them and their family on the back page.

Connor's favourite book is Dinosaurs in the Supermarket.  The author is Timothy Knapma








The author of Dimitri's favourite book is Beatrix Potter.

This Week's Fitness

Today's Maths In Room 2 - 20th March

We are learning about teen numbers and how to order numbers to 20.  Marilyn and Blake are having a turn at the Caterpillar Slider activity on the IWB (Interactive White Board).  If you get the numbers in the right order the caterpillar turns into a butterfly.  You can try it on http://www.ictgames.com/caterpillar_slider.html if you would like to.

Then the pentagon group had to order groups of teen numbers.

This Week's Big Book

This week our shared book was The King's Cake.  Today we acted it out.  The characters were the king, the queen, the cook and the gardener.  Here are some of the photos.  Blake was the gardener seen here running to get the hose and then squirting the King's cake to put the candles out.  We also designed some new cakes for the King and wrote stories about these.

Connor and Toby's News Today

Connor brought a weta to school today.  He found it in his Mum's garden.  Toby brought some ants that he found at his Dad's work.



Dyslexia Week 17th -21st of March

The Art we did for our discovery day was to coincide with Dyslexia Week.

Monday's Team One's Assembly Item

Shayla introduced our item and we sang two songs about being sunsmart. Our first song was We Are Trying To Be Sunsmart and our second one was Walking on Sunshine. We did actions for both songs. We really enjoyed being on the stage.

Some of Our Fantastic Art From Our Sunsmart Discovery Day

Art Discovery Day 14th March

We had a Sunsmart Discovery Day on Friday. It was a little bit different because we went to one main art activity and stayed in that room until we had finished it.  When we had finished our art we could choose other activities.
In Room 1 we did sponge painting of suns.



In Room 2 we drew pictures with black vivids and then coloured them in with bight coloured dyes.

 

In Room 3 we made suns using balloons and wool.

 In Room 4 we made suns using dyslexic clay.

Little Goat's Coat 13/3

Our big book for shared reading this week was Little Goat's Coat.  We fingerpainted goats and wrote stories about the book.

Here are some of them.
Dimitri  -Little Goat lost his coat.  He went to his Mum.
Blake - Little Goat's wool was falling off.
Kissane - Little Goat went to his Mum.
Toby - Little Goat lost his winter coat.

Team One and Two Sport

In the afternoon we had Team One and Two Sport.  We had a number on our hand from 1 to 5.  Here are some photos taken by Mrs. E at her game which was Rob The Nest.

This Month's Library Visit

We went to the Town Library with Room 3 this time.  Nicky read us a story about a teacher having a bad day.  On the way back we had to wait for a train.

THe Anti-Bullying Show

We went to the hall to see the show.  We met Jessie and Hi Rez, the purple space alien .  They had two puppets -Darlene and Charlene.  We learnt about inclusion and leaving an extra chair.

Mufti Day

On Tuesday the 4th of March we had a mufti day at school.  The money we raised was for Relay of Life.  We had to wear bright colours and bring a gold coin donation.  $384 was raised from this and a further $167 was raised from a staff morning tea. Well done everyone for a great effort!

Our First Visit To The Tararua Library

We went to the Town Library on Friday the 14th of February.  We hope to go to the Library on the first Friday of every month.  Everyone has been given a registration form to fill out and take back to the Library.  Parents need to take the form in with some form of identification.
